So, I think I know what I’m going to do So, I think I know what I’m going to do

So I have a 2019 4Runner. I do not have a project car. I now have a project.

Bomb Cyclone, hour 11...the final update Bomb Cyclone, hour 11...the final update

This will conclude the Bomb Cylcone updates from the house of the Huzers. I shoveled, it was heavy wet snow. Thankfully, I didn’t die, and the beer is nice and cold, so all is good. There was about a 2-3’ drift in the driveway to add to the fun. Right now, it’s just windy and not snowing. I shall now have another beer.

Proud Papa Proud Papa

This past weekend were the state championship games for all level of hockey in Colorado. My son is 9, and is in his first year as a Squirt hockey player, and his first full year as a goalie.

NPoCP, 1985 Toyota edition NPoCP, 1985 Toyota edition

Up for sale is this 1985 Toyota Pickup in Boulder, CO. Asking price is $7500. The ad is perilously devoid of any under hood or interior shots. If legit, this looks like a really clean truck.

Wheel bearings confirmed. Wheel bearings confirmed.

It took nearly three weeks to get it into the dealer for service. They confirmed right front wheel bearing, replaced and all is well. They also discovered a leaking radiator, cracked thermostat housing, and PCV needed replacement. We bought a Mopar Protection Plan when we bought the Jeep, so nearly everything was…

I didn’t wait long enough! Dynacorn releases 1967-1968 Cougar rear quarter panels I didn’t wait long enough! Dynacorn releases 1967-1968 Cougar rear quarter panels

The main cause of concern on the Cougar was the rusty rear quarter panels. Even if these existed a few months ago, it’s still an expense that I most likely would have avoided, but damnit! At least maybe a few more Cougars can be saved.

Wheel bearing noise? Wheel bearing noise?

My wife’s 2014 Grand Cherokee has some howling going on. It’s alignment is in spec, and the tires are brand new. It’s a speed sensitive “howl” that is loud enough that the transmission sounds like it needs to shift (it doesn’t, just stating a representation of the noise). The Jeep also has a whopping 27k on it.

So, it’s a TRD Pro Sequoia. Wee. So, it’s a TRD Pro Sequoia. Wee.

I’ve seen 1st gen Sequoias off road, I can’t say I’ve seen any second gens.

I hope NBCSports coverage of the Rolex 24 is better than Foxsports, FS1, FS2, Go, FS7.25, etc. I hope NBCSports coverage of the Rolex 24 is better than Foxsports, FS1, FS2, Go, FS7.25, etc.

There’s a preview show on NBCSports right now, following by qualifying. I hope to go next year after missing the past two years...or is it three. Regardless, it’s been too long.

Energy efficient windows, follow up Energy efficient windows, follow up

So, right now is not “peak” reflection season. That’s usually early spring and late fall. Here’s what the neighbor’s window reflection looks like on my garage door.

Manufacturing defect? EDIT: Energy Efficient windows strike again Manufacturing defect? EDIT: Energy Efficient windows strike again

So, I washed the 4Runner last week and noticed this blemish on the front grill surround. I’ve had the truck for one month now. I noticed it when I washed it last week. The first time I washed it, it seems like I would’ve noticed it, but maybe not.

What would you do?

So, a hotel we’ll be staying at in the future for a hockey tournament sent us an email to verify check in in/out date information. They sent this email to us, and many other teams that are at the same hotel. The email they sent out contained FULL CREDIT CARD INFORMATION for every person from every team staying at the…

I’ve got the project car bug I’ve got the project car bug

I have a few leftover parts from the Cougar that have stagnated on Craigslist for a while, but I know someone can eventually use them, so I’ll just keep renewing the post. I got a call this afternoon on some interior bits I have listed, which led to us chatting about cars. It seems I can’t even talk about old cars…

How often do you switch car insurance? How often do you switch car insurance?

We’re with USAA, but the rate creep has been substantial the last 2-3 years. I hate that a legal requirement like car insurance basically has the same bait and switch practices as cable TV. I think it’s time to switch.

I started the year with these... I started the year with these...

Now they’re both gone. It’s easy to look at pictures of the Cougar and forget the work that it needed, because darn, it was perty.

Modding a financed vehicle, yay or nay? Modding a financed vehicle, yay or nay?

Simple question, what are your thoughts on modifying a vehicle that is financed (meaning loan, not leased)? Enjoy it while you got it, or funnel that mod money towards paying it off first?

Double Blue Svending, first bath for the 4Runner Double Blue Svending, first bath for the 4Runner

A pleasant day today meant a quick wash of both vehicles. I need it to be warmer for me to go for the full detail, which both vehicles badly need.

2019 4Runner, quick thoughts after 600 miles, before I forget what the Tacoma was like 2019 4Runner, quick thoughts after 600 miles, before I forget what the Tacoma was like

Almost two weeks ago, I replaced my perfectly functional 2015 Tacoma DoubleCab TRD Sport 4x4 (Toyota should make that name a little longer) with a 2019 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Premium. Here are some quick thoughts after putting a couple of tanks of gas through it.

Dealer has finally listed my old truck, anyone want a 4 yr old Taco for $31k? Dealer has finally listed my old truck, anyone want a 4 yr old Taco for $31k?

I paid $31k and change for it in April 2015. Sticker was a little over $34k. It currently has almost 33k miles.

The third row in the 4Runner is surprisingly usable The third row in the 4Runner is surprisingly usable

One of the reasons why I traded in the Tacoma was an occasional need for a third row. It was not the main reason, but a viable reason nonetheless. I figured it would be an emergency use only, shove the kid(s) back there when family is visiting type of thing. There’s more room back there than I thought.
