What would you do?

So, a hotel we’ll be staying at in the future for a hockey tournament sent us an email to verify check in in/out date information. They sent this email to us, and many other teams that are at the same hotel. The email they sent out contained FULL CREDIT CARD INFORMATION for every person from every team staying at the…

I’ve got the project car bug I’ve got the project car bug

I have a few leftover parts from the Cougar that have stagnated on Craigslist for a while, but I know someone can eventually use them, so I’ll just keep renewing the post. I got a call this afternoon on some interior bits I have listed, which led to us chatting about cars. It seems I can’t even talk about old cars…

How often do you switch car insurance? How often do you switch car insurance?

We’re with USAA, but the rate creep has been substantial the last 2-3 years. I hate that a legal requirement like car insurance basically has the same bait and switch practices as cable TV. I think it’s time to switch.

I started the year with these... I started the year with these...

Now they’re both gone. It’s easy to look at pictures of the Cougar and forget the work that it needed, because darn, it was perty.

Modding a financed vehicle, yay or nay? Modding a financed vehicle, yay or nay?

Simple question, what are your thoughts on modifying a vehicle that is financed (meaning loan, not leased)? Enjoy it while you got it, or funnel that mod money towards paying it off first?

Double Blue Svending, first bath for the 4Runner Double Blue Svending, first bath for the 4Runner

A pleasant day today meant a quick wash of both vehicles. I need it to be warmer for me to go for the full detail, which both vehicles badly need.

2019 4Runner, quick thoughts after 600 miles, before I forget what the Tacoma was like 2019 4Runner, quick thoughts after 600 miles, before I forget what the Tacoma was like

Almost two weeks ago, I replaced my perfectly functional 2015 Tacoma DoubleCab TRD Sport 4x4 (Toyota should make that name a little longer) with a 2019 Toyota 4Runner SR5 Premium. Here are some quick thoughts after putting a couple of tanks of gas through it.

Dealer has finally listed my old truck, anyone want a 4 yr old Taco for $31k? Dealer has finally listed my old truck, anyone want a 4 yr old Taco for $31k?

I paid $31k and change for it in April 2015. Sticker was a little over $34k. It currently has almost 33k miles.

The third row in the 4Runner is surprisingly usable The third row in the 4Runner is surprisingly usable

One of the reasons why I traded in the Tacoma was an occasional need for a third row. It was not the main reason, but a viable reason nonetheless. I figured it would be an emergency use only, shove the kid(s) back there when family is visiting type of thing. There’s more room back there than I thought.

It needs a detail, and boy, it’s hard to get a good picture of the color. It needs a detail, and boy, it’s hard to get a good picture of the color.

I also did my first “mod” today, getting rid of the damn dealer sticker.

My modified time line, vehicles I’ve owned since we purchased my wife’s Grand Cherokee in Dec 2013 My modified time line, vehicles I’ve owned since we purchased my wife’s Grand Cherokee in Dec 2013

In the past 5 years, my wife has had 1 vehicle, her Jeep. I’ve had seven. Most are familiar here.

The least suspenseful car purchase, several of you were correct...meet my 2019 4Runner The least suspenseful car purchase, several of you were correct...meet my 2019 4Runner

I couldn’t stray from my now apparent Toyota bias. I traded in the Taco on a new 2019 Nautical Blue SR5 Premium 4Runner.

I didn’t think I’d replace it, but I am. The replacement is in my garage, but the paperwork will be finalized this evening. Here’s a hint....it’s 4wd.

Perusing the CL for future project cars, I simply set my filter on 80s. This lovely little Turno Coupe popped up.

My wife took drive my truck for an errand My wife took drive my truck for an errand

She drives her vehicle until it’s on fumes, then forgets to fill up. It’s weird watching your own vehicle drive away.

Scratching an itch Scratching an itch

Ever since I drove one a month or so ago, I’ve been thinking about the JLUR. I went to another dealer today to drive one again, even though it isn’t a configuration I would buy.

So, I drove this today.
