After some polls we decided Mallorca would be the place to visit this autumn. This little article will give more information, include a poll and asks for volunteers who want to join!
After spamming you with reminders for months, it finally started April 15th; the week-long Oppomeet in France. 16 people, 15 cars and countless liters of alcohol fuel. Here’s a report.
Step one: fix the taillights. This Dodge barge shows you how it’s done. The USDM reverse lights get an Amber bulb and are converted into indicators. There is a new reverse light added, and a rear fog light. Done.
On April 15th Oppo readers of 8 different nationalities will gather in Eastern France for a 5-day meet. We will drive through the mountains, visit the Peugeot museum, do a rallye, explore the culinary (and alcoholic?) culture and much more. But what shall we do during this rallye?
Can you guess how much we pay for 4 (or 5) nights per person? Less. No, far less. There is even a game room. And a hot tub. And yes, there are still some spare beds remaining!
We’re organizing an international Oppo road trip of epic proportions... Again. 9 nationalities from 2 continents signed up already. So why isn’t everyone else joining? Tell me why you are or are not considering joining!
The second round of voting has led to a clear winner for the date: week 16. With the adjoining weekend this translates to April 13-21. This includes Good Friday (April 19th). But will we go to France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany? Vote now (1 question) for the last time.
Until now 25 people have voted for potential dates and locations for our next (week-long) meet. The top 3 of both location and date transfer to round two. Will it be France? Will it be Italy? The second poll is open for votes! Edit: preliminary results added.
I’m going to need a German license plate soon. Due to where I live I’m bound to the first section of the plate (STA). I can choose the latter half though. It should start with 1-3 letters, followed by 1-3 numbers if I’m not mistaken. Any tips?
After many suggestions have been made, a poll has been created to survey when and where we’ll meet in 2019 (up to a full week, holiday style). Everyone who’s even considering joining, please take part. 22 entries so far, keep them coming!
With two, week-long, Europpomeets behind us in 2018 (Wales & Nürburgring/Alps) it’s time to look forward. Where will we go in 2019? And when? Please make your suggestions here, so we can vote later. Everyone can make a suggestion! New people are very welcome too!
I just spotted this purple (from the factory) BMW E30 Touring (wagon) for sale, close to me. I’m not interested myself, I have owned a few, but maybe someone else here is? Could probably be in the US or Canada for about €6-7 k. edit: I checked it out in person. Pictures!
... there’s the oppomeet! Due to the race that had just ended (rubber braking trails) and the ongoing rain it was incredibly slippery. There was a lot of wheelspin, brakes locking up and even a 360. Tomorrow: Oktoberfest in Munich.
Yes, why not? As many must have noticed we’re organizing an Oppo meet at the Nürburgring the weekend of September 22-23. After that, many will continue to the Alps until Sept. 28. But given that Oktoberfest in Munich starts on September 22nd, we’ll go to the Alps via Munich. Everyone is still invited!
Yesterday my odometer showed this. Not bad for an Italian built French brand coupe that has been extremely reliable and cheap to keep up for six years now...
It’s an interesting take. Including a short review of the (and I quote Ash78) Mercury Markwiss Browham:
It left the factory without AC. OEM AC parts are made of unobtanium. As I see it I’ve got 3 options: 1. Pay someone too much money, 2. Cobble something together, 3. Cooled seats with thermoelectric peltier elements. What would you do? And why?
With our absolutely brilliant 5-day March Wales behind us it’s time to talk about future European meets. We’ve got another 3 planned for 2018: Le Mans Classic July 6-8, Schloss Dyck Classic Days 3-5 August and Nürburgring (including driving it ourselves) during a TBD weekend in September. Who wants to join us?
‘My’ BX has been fixed, but more importantly the Fiat X1/9 had a bit of a crash... Hedges were involved. Many miles of great roads weren’t driven by our subgroup
The Fiat X1/9 overheated and needed its coolant bled. Luckily there was this little stream up in the mountains/hills.
